February is definitely the most glamourous month of all thanks to Valentine’s day !

That’s why I would like to share with you one of my favorite fashion houses addresses you’ll definitly adore too : it’s Emilie Marcelle , created by french fashion designer Lisa Mimoun, who has been inspired by the elegance of the women in her family, especially her grand mother.

From Paris to NY going through Monaco and Ibiza, her feminine style, so elegant, very couture and timeless has already seduced the most demanding clients !

Specializing first in the cult little back dress, a true must have when you live in the french capital, she developed her line with gorgeous evening gowns, cool cocktails dresses, lovely summer outfits, without forgetting sumptuous wedding dresses.

She’s also able to answer to private request if you’re dreaming about a unique bespoke creation.

I will be happy to organize for you a private and exclusive meeting in her show room located on left bank, the opportunity to meet Lisa, discover her creative universe and try all her marvels !

Amy W. from Baltimore :

Hello Anne! I hope you are well. A few years ago my husband and I had the pleasure of spending a day in Paris with you –– the morning was bakeries, cheese and desserts, and the afternoon was a wonderful art tour. To job your memory, I was in Paris lecturing at SciencePo, and my husband is an amateur baker who fell in love with all the bakeries you brought us to. It remains the highlight of our travels to France.

It’s great to hear back from you! We will change our plans so that we can spend an entire day with you – The agenda sounds terrific, and we are very much looking forward to seeing you again!

Let’s set Art in life and life in Art …

One week in the most beautiful city in the world, very Deluxe&Arty : Venice !!

Posted in art and culture, contemporary art, event, hotels and restaurants, luxury, shopping, travels, Venice on August 10, 2011 by ParisDeluxe&Arty

Ciao amici ! we just come back from Venice and it was sooo fantastic I would like to live there 6 months per  year ! This is really the most beautiful city in the world and 20 millions people do agree with me !

Moreover this is the 54th Biennale of contemporary art this year, so many exhibitions and artists to discover in a unique atmosphere…

We stayed at The San Clemente Place hotel and resort, this is THE place to be in summer ! Located on an island, 15 min boat ride only from Piazza San Marco (free shuttle service each 20 min), the 5-star hotel opened in 2004, after immense works in a former convent. Today it offers a marvellous garden with several hundred years old trees, a golf, two tennis courts, a refreshing pool, 2 restaurants… I take advantage to thank Melissa who helped us to improve our stay and make it memorable, grazie mille carissima ! Below : our bedchamber (we were upgraded with a junior suite), the bar, the pool.

The Biennale of Art 2011 :

We loved the austrian pavillion in the giardini with Marcus Schinwald. In the same time an installation, video and paintings, creating a white hanging maze with strange and unquiet meetings : anonymous portrait who received new proesthetics on their faces, minimalist sculptures hidden in corners with hangers and great video , closer to contemporary dance with body trapped  and contortions.Fabulous !

We also loved Sigalit Landau in Israel pavillion with shoes recovered with salt from dead sea falling down slowly in the sea.

Don’t miss the british pavillion by  Mike Nelson, you fell like visiting a taliban house…very impressive.

Are you a fluxus fan ? Visit the german pavillion, a flux oratorio (winner pavillion this year) by Christophe Schlingensief. Total success.

Art around the clock : in the Arsenal (globally very disappointed according to me this year) don’t miss Jean-Luc Mylaine and his fabulous birds,

James Turell for a space and light experience, and the great winner is (golden lion) : Christian Marclay with “The clock”, a video lasting 24h, a fantastic collage of movies excerpts evoking each minute of the day and night !

Want to have fun ? visit the narrow house by austrian artist Erwin Wurm (in Palazzo Franchetti’s gardens).Wurm was  famous for fat objects, here is some picture and there is no special effect !

Next to the house the exhibition “Glasstress” : master of contemporary art using glass in their work. Beauty still exist in Art if you ever doubted and you can find it here. Javier Perez crown of thorn is a good example as well as Zaha Hadid  futurist flowing like desk or Charlotte Gyllenhammar ‘s Alice in wonderland world :

Am a great fan of Pinault’s collection but photographs are not allowed…Nevertheless I do recommend Punta della dogana for Koons’s big red heart, Tatiana Trouvé drawings , Julie Merethu works … In Palazzo Grassi you cannot miss Joanna Vasconcelos  (next year in Versailles !) with a textile sculpture, a proliferating assemblage on  all the height of the building  : spectacular, decorative and a tribute to minor and folk art on a giant scale. after Wurm, great fun too with Francesco Vezzoli video : a pastiche of Hollywood true story, a kinf of hilarious self-portrait !

Prada exhibits its own collection in a fabulous 18th century palazzo Ca’ Correr della Regina : the place is great first for architecture, and  frescoes influenced by Veronese, then the collection with Pino Pascali (see below), Anish Kapoor (early work), Francesco Vezzoli again (works after famous Bernini with my friend Eva Mendes, we went to Louvre and Pompidou center together some year ago, fabulous and adorable girl !).

Do you know Axel ver Voordt ? a man of taste for sure then a famous belgium art dealer who loves to mix antique, modern and contemporary art , creating connoisseur cabinet. Each two years my great pleasure is to visit his new opus at charming Palazzo Fortuny (first pleats please inventor !). Among the treasures this year  (Op Art, Arte Povera, James Turrell, Lygia Pape …) , my favorite artist : Anthony Gormley !! I looove the dynamic energy emanting from this inner body… by the way, is this a centrifugal or centripetal strenght ? actually it’s working  in both way…

(Some of) My favorite restaurants in Venice :

1) da Forni

Spaghetti vongole is my sin in Venice ! I can eat them each day ! the best I’ve ever had  are there. Without forgetting another venitian specialty : le canocie (sea cicadas ).The waiters are just perfect, they make me think about italian movies in the 60’s, I can imagine them  twisting on Adriano Celentano…

2) the best Bellini ? At Gritti !!

How romantic  ! a dinner at Gritti Palace hotel (remember “Everybody says I love you”by Woody Allen ?) : we started with a glass of Bellini, our table facing la Salute …we had the tasting menu and we finished with an exquisite and incredibly light Tiramisu :

3) last day in Venice ritual : a dinner on Danieli terrace

It’s a ritual now, a way to say goodbye-but never farewell- to the Serenissima : we have a lunch with a view in legendary  Palace  Hotel Danieli, on the top roof.

That night the sky was so spectacular, we had a a marvellous table  and I enjoy so much my lobster salad !!

Shopping in Venice :

I’m so happy, I’ve found THE perfect gift from Venice you can wear each day at home !! I was so excited to find “Furlane”, these elegant venitian slippers originally  used by gondoliers and customized today with coral motifs made of beads. It is said that courtisans worn them when they went out, late at night, in venitian street …Mine furlane were embroidered by this charming lady, owner of a shop called “Venitian dream” (3805A, calle de la Mandola) I do recommend you.

One fabulous week in Marrakech !

Posted in hotels and restaurants, luxury, Marrakech, restaurants, shopping, travels on June 2, 2011 by ParisDeluxe&Arty

Edwart and me just come back from Marrakech and we loooved it ! I must say we were welcomed in the greatest places in very privileged conditions, we could enjoy and visit the most beautiful riads and hotels and taste the most delicious food. Choukrane to Fabrizio from Maison Arabe, to the french chef Laurent Chancel and Mustapha the morrocan chef, both from Royal Mansour, with many thanks also to Patrick Langlois and Ali from Fouquet’s Naoura Barriere, Amine from Mamounia…choukrane everybody and especially our dear funny and amazing friends who will  recognize…

1) La Maison Arabe

We stayed in my favorite Riad called “la Maison Arabe”owned by Prince Fabrizio Ruspoli and very well located in the Medina, not far from famous Djema El Fna square.

We loved our room with a private balcony and overlooking the swimming pool.I will rememember the delicious breakfast with moroccan pancakes and yogurt, so sweet and smooth. We enjoy the spa very much, 1001 nights atmosphere, it’s sooo good to start your trip with a hamman session and unforgetable massages ! The riad is decorated in a traditional style with taste and refinement for every details, at the image of the owners.

10 min drive from the Riad  there is the Country club reserved for hotels guests only with a bigger swimming pool and amazing gardens smelling roses and rosemary…you can enjoy a light lunch under the shade of olive trees and  it’s possible to hire the place for private event. Ideal for a birthday or wedding party there !!

2) ROYAL MANSOUR

Thanks to adorable friends  we could appreciate and enjoy Royal Mansour , which is more than the best and most beautiful palace hotel in the world : here we are on a Royal scale.

Imagine a private Medina with top luxury riads (all with private pools), surrounded by a magical scented garden , a spa that gives you a taste of paradise on earth, a french team in the kitchen from le Meurice (under Yannick Alleno supervision), new moroccan chef who worked in Monaco with Alain Ducasse…  and the most exquisite polychromic marbles, sophisticated fabrics, velvets, impressive  and delicate wood marquetterie, pietradura marquetterie,  embroideries on leather, impressive carved and painted ceilings, cristal chandelier all different the ones from the other, traditional zelige (mosaics) and tadelakt walls , EVERYWHERE ! without speaking of the library with an opening roof to observe the stars…no you’re not in a morrocan fairy tale you’re in Royal Mansour for Royal holidays !

The best craftmen of the kingdom worked there in order to offer the essence of Moroccan style blend in a contemporary refined atmosphere. Impossible to  talk about  high luxury if you haven’t been there once !

The entrance- the piano bar-the library-  the bar decorated with pink gold leaves on the mirrored wall- the swimming pool-

3) Mamounia by night :

We decided to go to that legendary palace hotel just for a drink then we were filled with marvels discovering the garden by night -with three centuries old trees -, the silent pool, the impressive refined lobby (the hotel has been totally redecorated by famous french interior designer Jacques Gracia-,  and decided to  eat at the Moroccan restaurant (but you have also a french one and italian one). We enjoyed our perfect couscous so much ! and the service was so friendly. We spent a lovely evening accompanied by excellent traditional musicians.

4) Fouquet’s Naoura Barriere

if you are used to read me you know we love La Baule seaside resort in west France. We went there 2 months ago and were recommended to visit the new hotel from Barriere group that opened in Marrakech. It’s  located just in font of La Maison Arabe ! We met Patrick Langlois, a very charming man who worked 25 years in La Baule before he participated to the launching of the new hotel in the Red City.We had a dinner by the pool and enjoyed the dessert. And  guess what,  I took something VERY french- even  so parisian- and hard to find now in Paris : Crepes Suzette !! so funny and extra delicious. Ali who knows also Deauville (we love Normandy Barriere hotel in Deauville,  the best hotel in Normandie) was our waiter and prepared these famous “crepes” !

5) Shopping

The day before we left Joe took me in his favorite shops in Gueliz, the modern and trendy part of Marrakech and great shopping area ! you wil find in many fashion city guides “Scene de lin” for home interior design and that’s definitly the place to shop for home souvenirs ! fabricks, blankets, cushions, scarfs, home accessories, a dream ! it makes you want to buy and decorate your own riad .

For fashion I love the creations of Nourredine Amir in Villa Amir. The place is all what I like : minimalist , only stone and glass, with opening on orange tree floroushing in a courtyard. Incredible work with ribbons twisted  for this corset, it looks like a sculpture !

I also recommend warmly Amina Tifnouti , 3 rue des vieux Marrakchis, I bought 2 tops , one in black velvet , the other in black silk, both embroidered with traditional moroccan motifs. I will wear them during our next trip to Venise for Biennale of contemporary art , we’ll stay in San Clemente Place hotel, I’m so excited !!

Best japonese tea in Paris : JUGETSUDO, 95 rue de Seine 75006

Posted in art and culture, luxury, Paris, places, shopping on November 30, 2010 by ParisDeluxe&Arty

Do you remember Maki ? I met her during Murakami ‘s VIP party at Versailles castle ! I’ve seen her first in front of the giant golden Buddha in the gardens,  dressed with a beautiful traditional kimono then I met her during the cockatil and she told me she was the manager of a tea shop called “Jugetsudo” in Saint Germain des Près. Of course I’ve been there and was so warmly received and I tasted the best sake of my life with a delicious salted cake with algae I do recommend you !

She organises tea ceremony, exhibitions, events …you can buy excellent green teas , my favorite is “Genmaicha with Matcha”.

I also love the ceramics  you can buy in the shop, great minimalist and refined design with subtle glazes. Jugetudo is definitly the place in Paris for  japonese art and lifestyle lovers.

la FIAC -International ART FAIR Paris

Posted in art gallery, contemporary art, Paris, shopping on October 20, 2010 by ParisDeluxe&Arty

I was invited tonight at Grand Palais to the openig of the Art fair in Paris, called La FIAC. It will last until sunday 24th.

You have 2 spots : Cour Carré in the Louvre for cutting edge and young art dealers,  and Grand Palais for “established galleries”, with 114 art dealers.

Don’t miss in Grand-Palais :

– Air de Paris with minimalist graphic like signs paintings by Stephane Dafflon , François Curlet granit funerary monument evoking a television.

-Kamel Mennour with impressive Anish Kapoor and Daniel Buren

– Claudine Papillon : wall drawing by Michael Craig-Martin and  exquisite ethereal  installation by Gaelle Chotard

– Emmanuel Perrotin for his elegant, decorativ and poetic 3D “Ricochet” by Jean Michel Othoniel.

– Denise René, for her always perfect hanging devoted to Op art, with a very chic silver Vasarely, not the cheap version on city bill boards that flourished in France in 80’s !

I’m a great fan, I should say addict to Iphone and there is an apps for LA FIAC !! free moreover ! To load absolutly.

And don’t hesitate, always ask the price when you like something, you can have good surprises…
